Copper Advances in Asia on Concern About Falling Inventories, Labor Unrest

(Bloomberg) -- Copper prices in Asia gained on
concern that labor unrest in Chile, the world's largest source
of the metal, may prompt users to draw down stockpiles,
tightening global supply.

Stockpiles monitored by the London Metal Exchange fell 1.8
percent to 112,600 tons, an eight-month low, the exchange said
yesterday. Workers at Chile's Codelco, the world's biggest
copper producer, and Dona Ines de Collahuasi, Chile's third-
largest mine, have begun protests, or may do so later this month.
