U.S. stock futures edge up after market sell-off

(Reuters) - European shares were volatile on Friday. The pan-European
FTSEurofirst 300 index opened 1 percent lower and then
rose as much as 0.7 percent before again trading flat.




U.S. stocks plummeted on Thursday, with the Dow industrials
tumbling more than 300 points, on signs of further weakness in
the housing market and deteriorating conditions for corporate
buyouts.
