Scania Q2 pretax lags consensus, share falls

(Reuters) - The Swedish firm, which escaped a hostile bid by German rival MAN earlier this year, said pretax profit rose to 2.90 billion crowns from 1.98 billion a year ago, lagging the mean forecast of 3.04 billion seen in a Reuters poll of 13 analysts.



Quarterly sales at the firm, which makes heavy-duty trucks as well as buses and engines, reported sales of 20.91 billion crowns versus 17.98 billion a year earlier and the 20.24 billion seen by analysts.
