Polish Zloty Holds Near Six-Week High on Evidence Inflation Is Quickening

(Bloomberg) -- Poland's zloty traded near a six-week
high against the euro after the Finance Ministry said consumer-
price inflation in the country probably accelerated in June,
making an increase in interest rates more likely.

The Warsaw-based ministry said the annual inflation rate
probably climbed to 2.7 percent, the highest since April 2005 and
above the central bank's 2.5 percent midrange target, reinforcing
the case for the central bank to lift interest rates this month.
Poland's main lending rate is currently 4.5 percent after a
quarter-point increase in June.
